Growth and transformation for wealth and asset managers

Most advice in this industry is written by people who will never have to live with it. Black Tusk was built the other way round. We find the next dollar of revenue  - new markets, new business lines, sharper distribution, better client experience - then build the operating model and integration that makes it last.

Led by practitioners who have chaired the meeting, stood up the entity and managed the regulator

We work lean by design and AI-forward by method, drawing on a network of specialists when depth is needed rather than carrying it as overhead. The efficiency that creates is shared with our clients — and it is what lets us train the next generation. You get the partner.

Founder & Managing Director

Chris Farkas, CPA, CA

Chris founded Black Tusk Partners after twenty-five years in wealth and asset management, on both sides of the table. He has run the businesses he now advises — Managing Director and Global Head of Distribution at Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group, leading a 50-person distribution organization through two record sales years, with a seat on the executive leadership team. He has also built consulting practices at Deloitte in the UK and at KPMG, where he led the Asset & Wealth Management consulting practice and subsequently the Financial Services consulting team.

About the name

Black Tusk is the volcanic spire at the northern end of Garibaldi Provincial Park in British Columbia: 2,319 metres. Through alpine meadows and glacier lakes, it is visible from most of the Sea-to-Sky corridor; the thing you take your bearing from when the weather closes in.

To the Squamish Nation it is t'ak't'ak mu'yin tl'a in7in'a'xe7en - the Landing Place of the Thunderbird. To the Lil'wat it is Q'elqámtensa ti Skenknápa, the Place where the Thunder Rests. The mountain sits in their ancestral territory, and the stories belong to them.

I climbed it as a boy with my father. He taught me to pay attention to where I was standing and to respect the majesty of nature and this place. The firm carries this name for him.
